Jeep UK is introducing a four-cylinder, 2.2-liter MultiJet turbodiesel engine for the 2015 Cherokee.

This is a Euro 6-compliant engine joining the existing 2.0-liter diesel and is offered exclusively with the nine-speed automatic transmission sending power to an all-wheel drive system. It's being offered with 185 PS (136 kW) and 200 PS (147 kW) outputs at 3,500 rpm, with both of them having a maximum torque of 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) at 2,500 rpm. Jeep is selling the 185 PS version in the Longitude and Longitude+ variants whereas the punchier 200 PS can be had only in the Limited specification.

Those who go for the 200 PS Limited version will be able to specify the Active Drive II all-wheel drive system whereas the other versions come with the Active Drive I setup. In terms of performance, the more powerful model with the Active Drive I system will run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 8.5 seconds before topping out at 127 mph (204 km/h) whereas the Active Drive II-equipped model is 0.2s slower in the sprint and has a -1 mph lower top speed. If you want to go for the weaker 185 PS version, this one is obviously a tad slower as it runs the sprint in 8.8 seconds and can hit a maximum speed of 125 mph (201 km/h).

Jeep UK is asking £26,095 OTR for the entry-level 2.0 MultiJet II 140 PS Longitude FWD manual specification while the range-topping 2.2 MultiJet II 200 PS Limited 4WD automatic begins at £37,995 OTR.
