We have received a comprehensive batch of spy shots with a barely camouflaged Porsche Boxster facelift.

It was only yesterday when our spies sent us a series of images with the facelifted 911 (991.2) in plenty of body styles and now they are back with a new set showing the Boxster testing both during the day and at night. As you can see, some of the pics show the prototype with the top down while others depict the Boxster being tested with the fabric roof in position.

"Subtle" is probably the best word to describe the cosmetic tweaks implemented by Porsche on its entry-level model which will get new LED daytime running lights, slightly different graphics for the headlights and taillights while the bumpers are also going through a minor nip & tuck. We also notice the bigger rear fender vents which are probably necessary to cool down the new four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine.

Speaking of which, the Boxster facelift will apparently have a 2.0-liter displacement in the base version where it's expected to develop 240 bhp (179 kW) whereas the Boxster S is getting a 2.5-liter version with 300 bhp (224 kW). As for the hotter GTS model, this one is set to employ an uprated 2.5-liter developing around 370 bhp (276 kW). Purists will be happy to hear the Boxster Spyder and the Cayman GT4 will continue with their larger, naturally aspirated engines.

As a final note, it is believed the Cayman will be slotted below the Boxster in some markets where Porsche will advertise the coupe as its cheapest model.
