Described as "a car for the star gazers" by S-Class project manager Martin Hulder, the flagship cabriolet from Daimler will also get a range-topping AMG version which can be seen here in the V8 specification with a twin-turbo 5.5-liter engine pushing out 577 bhp (430 kW) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. There's also going to be a mighty V12 powering the S65 and both of them will likely debut together with the regular versions next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The body changes compared to the coupe will be minor, but obviously the fixed metal roof will be replaced by an electrically retractable soft top which will probably add some weight so it will likely be a tad slower than the S63 Coupe which needs 4.2 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h).

The gorgeous looks and powerful engine will be matched with a premium price tag as the Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet will cost significantly more than the equivalent coupe which kicks off at €170,586 in Germany, so the open-top version will break the €200,000 barrier once you'll add a couple of those fancy extras.
