Tesla Motors has published a video demonstrating a prototype for a metallic snake-like robotic charger.

This prototype seems to be fully autonomous as it finds its own way to the car's charging port and automatically plugs in. Since this is currently billed as a prototype, it will take a while until it will reach production and most likely Tesla wants this to be an alternative to wireless charging. As a matter of fact, it's probably a better solution since using a power cord is more efficient than inductive charging, especially when dealing with high outputs.

It will be interesting to see whether this robotic snake will actually be sold and we are curious about its price tag since the technology is very impressive and obviously it won't come cheap, especially at first.
