High-performance crossovers a big hit with luxury buyers but Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen has downplayed the possibility of an XT5-V.

Speaking to Automotive News, de Nysschen suggested that the upcoming crossover would get a Vsport variant instead of the full V-Series treatment.  The executive declined to go into specifics but Vsport models typically offer revised styling, additional equipment and an upgraded engine.

In related news, de Nysschen said he's been thinking about a "high-performance, sporty, [and] satisfying version of an Escalade."  There's no word on when the model could arrive but it would be more powerful than the standard Escalade which features a 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 420 bhp (313 lb-ft) and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque.
