Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales has revealed some new details about the company's upcoming crossover.

Speaking to Car Magazine, Gales said the model will be instantly recognizable as a Lotus as it will have a front fascia that echoes the new 3-Eleven.  The crossover will also have "hints of the 1974 Elite and other Lotus cars."

The model is expected to be about the same size as the Porsche Macan but it will be lower and wider than its German counterpart.  The crossover will also weigh 200-300 kg (441-661 lbs) less than the Macan.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but the model will reportedly be offered with several four-cylinder units. There could also be a hybrid variant as well as a V6 for high-performance variants.

If everything goes according to plan, the crossover will be launched in China by 2020.  Should it prove successful, it will be launched in Europe shortly thereafter.
