New details are starting to emerge about the concept vehicle that will preview the production Audi Q6.

Set to be unveiled during the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the study will wear the C-BEV name and will act as a predecessor of the production Q6, confirmed for a 2018 market launch. The machine will be based on the latest version of the MLB platform and will feature a fully electric drivetrain, consisting of three electric motors. Two of them will be located on the rear axle and the third one will sit within the gearbox. The electric system is said to be similar to the one in the current R8 e-tron.

According to Autocar, the electric SUV will boost 500 bhp (373 kW) and 700 Nm (517 lb-ft) of torque. The electric energy will be taken from a 90 kWh battery pack, providing a range of “at least 500 km (311 miles)”.

Our source also claims the C-BEV concept will feature “the most contemporary infotainment, connectivity and autonomous driving features”, while the production model could share part of its interior architecture with the next generation Audi A8. The electric crossover will come with “a sensational Cd value for an SUV” of less than 0.30.
