What appears to be the Hyundai i20 Turbo has been caught on camera for the very first time ahead of next year's possible launch.

It was spotted in southern Spain and there are reasons to believe this is a turbocharged i20 since it has a lower front spoiler lip and wears the same camouflage layout as the prototypes which preceded the i30 Turbo. This is a five-door hatchback, but Hyundai also has a three-door coupe version of the new i20 and chances are this will receive the Turbo treatment as well since the i30 Turbo is available in both body styles.

The identity of the engine is not known at this point, but the i20 Turbo could use a detuned version of the 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine from its bigger brother where it churns 186 PS (137 kW) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque. If this turns out to be true, the i20 Turbo will likely have approximately 150 PS (110 kW) which should be enough for a feisty little machine on the budget.

An official launch will likely occur in the first half of 2016 for both hatchback and coupe body styles.
