The North American Volkswagen Passat has always been a tad underwhelming but that hasn't stopped the company from celebrating the production of the 500,000th model in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The landmark model was a 2015 Passat Limited Edition which features a Candy White exterior and 17-inch Sonoma-style alloy wheels.  The car also has a black interior with heated front seats, a push-button ignition, a rearview camera and a premium audio system.

Power is provided by a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 170 bhp (126 kW) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque.

In a statement, Volkswagen Chattanooga CEO Christian Koch said “Our Passat has raised the bar on what Americans can expect from a mid-size sedan and the 500,000th car was built with the same passion for detail as the first. I’m proud of our team and excited about new products on the horizon in this factory."
