The latest product from Maranello has made the journey to the German autobahn for a top speed test.

Ferrari is quoting a top speed of more than 205 mph (330 km/h) for the 488 GTB and someone lucky enough to test this took the car to the German autobahn and managed to hit 212 mph (341 km/h). To be fair, the figure displayed on the digital speedometer is not entirely accurate as cars these days show a slightly higher top speed than the actual one, but nevertheless the driver still managed to hit at least the 200 mph (322 km/h) threshold.

As a reminder, the Ferrari 488 GTB rockets to 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in a mere 3 seconds while the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) task is accomplished in 8.3 seconds. It does that thanks to a 3.9-liter V8 twin-turbo engine pushing out 670 PS (493 kW) and 760 Nm (560 lb-ft) of torque. All that power is channeled to the road with help from a revised 7-speed dual-clutch transmission featuring variable torque management. The powerful heart is wrapped around in a lightweight package tipping the scales at only 1,370 kg (3,020 lbs).

Ferrari is also cooking up a Spider version currently referred to as the 488 GTS which is believed to show up at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
