A new report states Nokia is almost ready to shake hands with the German premium trio regarding the HERE maps business.

It seems Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi are close to acquiring Nokia's HERE as an agreement is expected to be reached next week, with an announcement set to be made on July 31. Negotiations are still ongoing and the deal could still fall apart as Nokia is asking as much as $4 billion, so obviously a deal of this magnitude takes time until all the parties involved iron out all the pesky yet very important details.

A joint venture encompassing the German prestige trio is considered by experts as being an unusual move taking into account Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi are fighting a heavy battle to claim the global luxury sales crown. For all of them it's very important to have access to detailed maps and Nokia's HERE business offers one of the best services out there.
