The second generation Qashqai crossover is turning out to be a major success as it has helped Nissan dethrone Toyota on top of the European sales standings for an Asian marque. During the first six months of the year, Nissan's deliveries jumped from 368,314 units to 384,726 cars, representing a 4.3% increase. The company is enjoying some major sales hikes in countries such as UK (+34%), Spain (+18%) and Germany (+11%).

Thanks to this boost in sales, Nissan currently has a 4.2% market share in Europe. According to market researchers at JATO Dynamics, a whopping 101,579 units of the second-gen Qashqai were sold in the first five months of the year, out of a total of 249,164.

Volkswagen is Europe's best-selling brand and they delivered 901,452 cars from January to June, up by almost 9% which has helped the brand acquire a 12.1% market share.
