Shelby American is celebrating the 50th anniversary of their FIA World Championship by offering a new limited series of continuation Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes.

The cars will be offered with either a fiberglass or aluminum body built from original blueprints and measurements. They will also have a number of "safety and performance improvements" but retain period correct components such as the leaf spring suspension, tubular chassis and wooden rimmed steering wheel.  The models will also have a black leather interior, modern disc brakes and special badging - among other things.

The cars will be delivered as a rolling chassis but the customer or an authorized dealer can install a 289 cubic inch engine built by the Shelby Engine Company.

Unfortunately, the cars won't come cheap as the fiberglass version costs $179,995 while the aluminum variant starts at $349,995.  The company is currently accepting orders and production will be limited to a total of 50 units.
