The Opel Insignia is getting a little long in tooth but that hasn't stopped the company from announcing a series of updates to the model.

Starting under the hood, there's a new 1.6-liter CDTI engine that will replace the previous 2.0-liter unit. The entry-level variant produces 120 PS (88 kW) and enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 11.9 seconds and return up to 3.9 L/100km (60.3 mpg US / 72.4 mpg UK).

Moving up to the 136 PS (100 kW) variant rewards buyers will a 0-100 km/h time of 10.9 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h (130.4 km/h).  Despite the improved performance, there isn't a plenty at the pump as the sedan returns 3.8 L/100km (61.8 mpg US / 74.3 mpg UK).

Besides the new engine, the Insignia receives Opel OnStar and a new Navi 900 IntelliLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay compatibility.
