New details are starting to emerge about the upgraded Ferrari F12 Berlinetta which is currently in the works at Maranello.

Referred to as the F12 M or F12 GTO, the higher specification Berlinetta has already been caught on camera undergoing testing and according to our friends at Autogespot.nl it will bring some serious improvements. Ferrari's engineers are apparently working on the V12 6.3-liter engine to boost its output from the current 740 PS (545 kW) to at least 780 PS (574 kW). There's no word yet about torque, but expect a significant increase over the standard 690 Nm (509 lb-ft).

Aside from packing more punch, the upgraded Ferrari F12 will also be tuned to provide better handling and should weigh 1,415 kg (3,119 lbs), thus making it 110 kg (242 lbs) lighter than the standard variant. All these improvements have apparently allowed Ferrari to shave off two seconds from the car's Fiorano lap time which now should take 1 minute and 21 seconds.

Chances are we will get to see the improved F12 in March next year at the Geneva Motor Show.
