The Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer is only a couple of years old but the model has reportedly just been axed.

According to Autocar, the costs associated with making the new 2.0-liter CDTi diesel engine work with the four-wheel drive system were simply too high to justify the relatively little demand in right-hand drive markets such as the United Kingdom.  Vauxhall also reportedly decided against offering a front-wheel drive variant as it wasn't deemed "appropriate" given the wagon's crossover-inspired styling.

While the Vauxhall variant is a thing of the past, Opel will continue to off the Insignia Country Tourer in left-hand drive markets.
