The Lincoln Aviator was phased out nearly a decade ago but a new report is indicating it is set for a return.

According to a "second-hand source" who spoke to The Truth About Cars, Lincoln is working another Aviator and it will be based on the Ford Explorer.  There's no word on when the model will arrive but the source said the Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT will be dropped in the process.

In related news, the insider said the next-generation Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator will have an all aluminum body as well as a ten-speed automatic transmission.
