A new report indicates Renault is planning a hot RS version of the recently introduced Kadjar compact crossover.

Deliveries of the Kadjar haven't even started yet but there are already talks about a diversified range set to include a range-topping version tweaked by Renaultsport. Nissan is said to launch a Qashqai Nismo next year and it will likely be joined by the Kadjar RS, with both cars sharing an uprated 1.8-liter turbocharged gasoline engine developing as much as 266 bhp (198 kW).

Aside from receiving a more powerful heart, the Kadjar RS will also get a stiffer suspension setup, beefier brakes, larger brakes and a more aggressive body kit. The report goes on to specify Renaultsport's engineers could also install a limited-slip differential and possibly an all-wheel drive layout adapted from the standard variant.

Since the Qashqai Nismo is expected in 2016, chances are Renault will come out with the Kadjar RS sometime in 2017.
