The Mercedes GLC is inching closer to production as our spies have caught a lightly camouflaged prototype undergoing some final testing in Germany.

Set to be introduced next month, the GLK replacement features curvaceous styling and a two-bar grille that is flanked by S-Class inspired headlights.  The crossover also features plastic body cladding, chrome trim and stylish character lines.  Moving further back, there's a tailgate-mounted spoiler and a dual exhaust system.

The upscale styling will continue in the cabin as the GLC adopts a C-Class inspired interior with high quality materials and a modern design.  Notable highlights include circular air vents, metallic accents and a freestanding infotainment system.

Engine options will carryover from the C-Class, so expect an assortment of familiar petrol and diesel units. There could also be a new AMG variant with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 476 PS (350 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.
