The sixth generation Chevrolet Camaro is back in its first official video from last weekend's presentation in Detroit.

Set to go on sale towards the end of the year, the Camaro 6 reveal comes after a painstaking teaser campaign but hopefully it was worth the wait after Chevrolet's engineers applied a 200 lbs (90 kg) diet and installed a new front multi-link MacPherson strut suspension combed with a five-link rear setup. The modifications are very skin deep as 70% of the parts have been tailored to the new Camaro while the body was tested in the wind tunnel for 350 hours to optimize aerodynamics.

The most efficient Camaro of all times will be the version equipped with a new 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 275 bhp (205 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). It will be capable of returning in excess of 30 mpg on the highway and will enable the model to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill in less than six seconds.

If you value performance more than economy, the V6 3.6-liter with 335 bhp (250 kW) and 284 lb-ft (385 Nm) could be a better choice while the punch SS version should satisfy your thirst for a beefy engine thanks to a V8 6.2-liter unleashing 455 bhp (339 kW) and 455 lb-ft (617 Nm).
