Top Gear magazine had the chance to take the 2015 Ariel Nomad for a quick off-road adventure.

British specialty marque Ariel Motor Company has created an Atom capable of tackling muddy and bumpy roads thanks to a long-travel suspension and a considerably increased ground clearance. It's still a two-wheel drive vehicle but with larger wheels and chunky tires allowing the Nomad to be as exciting on muddy roads as the Atom is on tarmac.

It weighs only 1,477 lbs (670 kg) and is equipped with a four-cylinder, 2.4-liter engine sourced from Honda and updated for this application to produce 235 bhp (175 kW) and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) sent to the road with help from a 6-speed gearbox. It runs the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in just 3.4 seconds before topping out at 125 mph (250 km/h).

Ariel says the 2015 Nomad will go on sale this summer at a starting price of £27,500, without VAT.
