BMW has unveiled an upgraded Competition Package for the M6 Coupe, Gran Coupe and Convertible.

Set to go on sale in July, the new Competition Package enables the 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine to produce 600 PS (441 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 40 PS (29 kW) and 20 Nm (14 lb-ft) over the standard model.

Thanks to the extra oomph, the M6 Coupe and M6 Gran Coupe can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while the M6 Convertible accomplishes the same task in 4.0 seconds.  All of the models have a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) but that can be increased to 305 km/h (189 mph) when customers order the M Driver’s Package.

Besides the upgraded engine, the Competition Package adds a revised suspension with new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars.  The models also have a revised steering system, a modified Active M Differential and a sportier Dynamic Stability Control system.  Other highlights include black chrome tailpipes and exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels.
