Chevrolet has released a promotional clip with the second generation Volt set to be featured in Disney's Tomorrowland movie.

Scheduled to go on sale this fall, Chevrolet's overhauled Volt will serve as "the car of tomorrow" in the upcoming Tomorrowland set to hit theaters on May 22. For a brief moment you can see how the first-gen Volt makes the transition into the next new generation which has a more conventional styling and benefits from a vast array of hardware improvements.

Chevrolet's engineers were able to make the powertrain 12% more efficient and they also shaved off 100 kg (220 lbs) while the electric range has increased to 50 miles (80 km). It uses a 101 bhp 1.5-liter gasoline engine teamed up with a 149 bhp electric motor and a 18.4 kWh lithium-ion battery while the total range stands at 420 miles (676 km). It will take 13 hours to refill the battery pack from a 120V source or 4.5 hours when using a 240V outlet.

In terms of pricing, the 2016 Chevrolet Volt carries a $33,995 MSRP which makes it almost $1,200 more affordable than the outgoing model. Once you add the federal tax credit, the price decreases by $7,500 to $26,495 while in California there are other incentives applicable which further lower the price to $24,995.
