According to a recent report, Ford is preparing to say farewell to the Falcon with a new high-performance variant.

According to Motoring's sources, the high-performance model will be based on the Falcon XR6 and could be called the Sprint.  Little is known about the car but it will reportedly feature an aggressive styling package as well as a turbocharged 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine that develops 415 bhp (310 kW) and 416 lb-ft (565 Nm) of torque.

There could also be an XR8 special edition but it is expected to use the familiar supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops 449 bhp (335 kW) and 420 lb-ft (570 Nm) of torque.

Both models are expected to be introduced later this year so stay tuned for updates.
