Mercedes-Benz has published a teaser image for the GLC which will receive its world premiere on June 17.

The attached pic serves as a teaser in Daimler's opinion, but it only shows us the "GLC" lettering which designates the new name of the compact crossover. The "GLK" moniker will be retired for the second generation as part of Mercedes-Benz's new nomenclature which tries to point out the connection between similarly sized models.

In this case, the GLC will be closely related to the C-Class upon which it will be based so in terms of hardware we are not expecting any surprises. All the data is going to be available on June 17 when the official reveal will occur while dealerships will have the car starting September 12, just a few days before the Frankfurt Motor Show kicks off.

The design will closely mirror the C-Class sedan but obviously with a jacked up suspension, slightly beefier body and an interior cabin largely carried over from the compact executive sedan. Right-hand drive availability has been confirmed for the GLC and those who want the most powerful version will have to wait until 2016 when the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 will be out with a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine.

There's also a GLC Coupe version in the works which will be closely related to the concept exhibited recently at Auto Shanghai. It's expected to come out sometime next year and will spawn an AMG version as well, but an official introduction will happen at least 6-8 months later.
