Elon Musk revealed on his Twitter account the Tesla Roadster 3.0 update will likely be available in August.

Announced late last year, the 3.0 package for the Tesla Roadster will complete safety validation by the end of July according to Elon Musk who estimates it will be commercially available a month later. It will bring a new 70 kWh lithium-ion battery which despite being the same size as the current one, it will be capable of carrying 31% more energy.

The Tesla Roadster is going to receive low-rolling resistance tires and improved wheel bearings while a retrofit aero kit is going to lower the drag coefficient from 0.36 to 0.31. All these upgrades will grant the vehicle with a maximum range of more than 400 miles (643.7 km) before running out of juice.

When the 3.0 update was announced in December 2014, Tesla Motors said they are "confident" it won't be the last one.
