Following its world premiere back in January at NAIAS in Detroit, the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) hatch is at the forefront of a new promotional clip.

The most powerful production MINI ever made has been taken to the track where a professional driver shows off how nimble and quick the pocket rocket is thanks to a punchy 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with 228 bhp (170 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque. The motor can be mated to either a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional six-speed Steptronic sports transmission.

In terms of performance, the manual MINI John Cooper Works hatchback hits 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in 6.3 seconds which makes it 0.2s slower than the automatic model. Regardless of gearbox choice, top speed stands at a respectable 153 mph (246 km/h).

Besides getting a powerful heart, the MINI JCW also benefits from a sports-tuned suspension and high-performance brakes while at an additional cost clients can opt for a Dynamic Damper Control system.

It's scheduled to go on sale this spring in United States from $30,600 without the $850 destination & handling fee while the UK-spec model will be available at the end of this month from £22,865.
