The BMW X5 xDrive40e is at the forefront of a new trailer for Mission Impossible Rogue Nation.

Currently on display at Auto Shanghai in China, the plug-in hybrid version of the BMW X5 is also the star of a fresh trailer for Rogue Nation, the latest installment in the Mission Impossible franchise set to come out on July 31. It's joined by an M3 F80 and an S 1000 RR which were included in the previous action-packed trailer.

The BMW X5 plug-in hybrid will be commercialized with the xDrive40e moniker and will mix a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor and an 8-speed Steptronic gearbox. It has a combined output of 313 PS (230 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) which is enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 6.8 seconds and a 130 mph (210 km/h) electronically-capped top speed.

Thanks to a 9 kWh lithium-ion battery, the X5 xDrive40e has an electric range of 19 miles (31 km) while in hybrid mode it consumes 3.4 - 3.3 liters / 100 km (83.1 - 85.6 mpg UK or 69.1 - 71.2 mpg US) and emits 78 - 77 g/km of CO2.

BMW has previously announced the plug-in hybrid SAV will go on sale this fall.
