Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen has apparently confirmed plans for a new V8 engine that will be unique to the luxury brand.

In a Facebook posting, which has seemingly been deleted, de Nysschen confirmed the company is working on an all-new, state-of-the-art V8 engine that is "mega powerful" and "highly efficient."  The executive went on to say the V8 engine is alive and well at Cadillac but will be in "even better shape tomorrow.”

There's no word on when the engine will arrive but it could debut in the company's upcoming flagship which will be launched by 2020 and go head-to-head with long-wheelbase versions of the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series and Mercedes S-Class.
