Shanghai GM has published a teaser image with the next generation Buick Verano set to debut on April 19.

Buick says they took their inspiration from the 2013 Riviera concept and 2015 Avenir concept when designing the all-new Verano which in Europe will be commercialized as the Opel Astra Sedan. Details about the model are scarce at the moment, but the Shanghai General Motors joint venture in China promises the model will offer a "refreshing driving experience" as well as an "exquisite and comfortable interior" while the driver will take advantage of "precise and powerful performance."

It's bound to receive an evolutionary design and based on what we saw in previous spy shots it will likely grow in size as the prototypes featured longer rear doors which means there's going to be an extended wheelbase providing more room, especially for rear passengers. It will likely ride on the D2XX platform shared with the next-gen Euro-spec Astra and the next-gen China-spec Chevrolet Cruze so expect a weight loss despite increased proportions.

We will have all the details on Sunday when Buick will unveil the Verano, a day before Auto Shanghai 2015 starts.
