Still looking like a jacked up Ghibli, Maserati's first ever crossover will basically be a production version of the 2011 Kubang concept riding on the same platform as the Ghibli but with an increased ride height, wider body and a modified Q4 all-wheel drive system. There's not much to report about the styling as the mule carries the Ghibli body and interior as Maserati isn't willing to show us the production goodies yet.

Set to be manufactured in Turin, Italy, the Levante will premiere in January 2016 at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit and go on sale shortly after that. It's one of the four new models planned by Maserati and will be followed by the Alfieri Coupe set to debut next year and the Alfieri Cabrio likely coming out in 2017 while the next-gen GranTurismo (coupe-only) is due in 2018. Maserati has already announced they are not planning a smaller crossover to position underneath the Levante because it would collide with other FCA products.
