A prototype of what could possibly be a Porsche Cayman GT4 racecar has been spied for the first time.

We are not sure of what to make of this but chances are this is a track-only version of the recently introduced Cayman GT4. The prototype was spotted undergoing some intense testing at the Monza circuit in Italy and it appears to adopt a lower suspension and rides on race-spec lightweight wheels wrapped around in racing slicks.

In addition, the side scoops appear to be slightly larger while the front and rear bumpers are different than those of the road-going Cayman GT4. It could also have an unrestricted exhaust system and a stripped out cabin featuring a beefier roll cage.

Regardless of what it is, the test driver really pushes the car to its limits and as you can see he almost loses control at around the 0:50 mark.
