The Mercedes GLE Coupe has gone into production at the company's plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The Mercedes GLE Coupe has gone into production at the company's plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Set to go on sale later this year, the GLE Coupe is a BMW X 6 competitor which is described as a "striking" combination of a coupe and a crossover.  As a result, the crossover's styling closely echoes the standard GLE but the model is distinguished by a dynamic roofline and a distinctive rear end that echoes the S-Class Coupe.

Under the hood, a variety of engines will be available including:

 

  • A 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 258 PS (190 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque
  • A twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 333 PS (245 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque
  • A twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 367 PS (270 kW) and 520 Nm (383 lb-ft) of torque
  • A twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 557 PS (410 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque
  • A twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 585 PS (430 kW) and 760 Nm (561 lb-ft) of torque
