Toyota has taken the wraps off the 2016 RAV4 Hybrid.

Based on the facelifted 2016 RAV4, the crossover features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an eCVT transmission and an Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel-Drive System which has a rear electric motor that delivers instant torque to the rear wheels when additional traction is needed.

Toyota was coy on performance specifications but confirmed the model will have "more horsepower and better acceleration" than the standard RAV4.

Specifications are also shrouded in secrecy but the automaker confirmed the crossover will have unique 17-inch alloy wheels and be offered in XLE and Limited variants.

The 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will go on sale this fall, so expect to learn more in the coming months.
