Skoda has patented a new technology called ShadeChange available exclusively for the Fabia supermini.

VW-owned Czech marque already offers a plethora of customization options for their third generation Fabia, including pictures for the dashboard, but now they have launched a new £500 option known as “ShadeChange” which allows the owner to change the color of the body panels by using the on-board touchscreen part of the infotainment system.

As you can see, each of the body panels can have a different hue and are coated with a microscopic layer of unobtainium which they say it's a newly discovered element that will change its color whenever a small electrical charge is applied to it. Moreover, the wheels can also be painted in a wide variety of colors to make the Fabia stand out even more and all of these color changes can be done while on the go.

Announced today on April 1, Skoda's revolutionary ShadeChange technology is currently in the final development stage and will be commercially available in the near future.
