The fourth generation Kia Optima has been spotted in the metal ahead of next week's official reveal.
Designed by the same person who was in charge of the original Audi TT, Kia's upcoming mid-size sedan takes the evolutionary route as the design isn't that much different compared to the outgoing model, but Peter Schreyer has made the car look sleeker and upscale. Kia already released a couple of teaser images yesterday and now the KDM-spec K5 has been photographed without any disguise on a highway in South Korea.
Technical details are scare for the moment as Kia is only saying the 2016 Optima / K5 will get "multiple engine choices" and "class-up premium features" while the interior cabin is bound to become more spacious. We assume a more practical wagon version is in the works as previewed by the well-received SPORTSPACE concept and Kia could decide to offer an interesting diesel-electric hybrid version.
We will have all the details next week as the fourth-gen Kia Optima will be unveiled on April 1 at the New York Auto Show while the KDM-spec K5 will be exhibited a day later at the Seoul Motor Show at home in South Korea.
