Lotus has taken the wraps off the Exige S Club Racer which brings a considerable 15 kg weight loss.

Following yesterday's reveal of the 20th anniversary edition Elise, Lotus is back with the Exige S Club Racer which will be available exclusively as a coupe. It weighs 1,161 kg (2,559 lbs) which makes it 15 kg (33 lbs) lighter than before thanks to a more lightweight construction of the sports seats, doors and battery.

The more hardcore Exige S comes with a newly developed front splitter, flat underside and rear wing which combined generate an extra 42 kg (92 lbs) of downforce at 100 mph (161 km/h). There aren't any changes in the engine department so this new version comes with the same supercharged V6 3.5-liter engine developing 345 bhp (258 kW) at 7,000 rpm and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) at 4,500 rpm. It sprints to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) from a standstill in 4 seconds and tops out at 170 mph (274 km/h).

Priced at £56,900, Lotus is asking an extra £2,400 compared to the standard Exige S but they say it brings goodies worth £4,500. It will be available with white or yellow metallic paints and black or orange matte hues which are all combined with a matte black finish for the rear wing, front splitter, roof panel, front access panel and mirrors.

As a final note, this isn't the first time Lotus is offering an Exige S Club Racer as back in 2007 they sold a similar version but that was limited to 25 cars and had less power.
