Renault's D segment model is long overdue but thankfully an all-new generation is just around the corner and it seems it will be worth the wait. Even though it carries a substantial amount of camouflage, it's easy to notice the much sleeker body compared to the rather awkward current Laguna. Renault knows the outgoing model was unsuccessful which is why they might decide to ditch the "Laguna" moniker and opt for something else, possibly going back to the "Safrane" name.

Whatever it will be called, the new French mid-size model is going to ride on the CMF platform and apparently it will be slightly larger than the Laguna III. It will allegedly be unveiled in July and will also get a wagon variant while details about a sleeker coupe body style are not available at this point.

Renault will assemble the model at home in Douai, France at their Georges Besse plant where they also put together the Espace and Scenic. It should go on sale sometime this fall and will compete among others with the Volkswagen Passat, Ford Mondeo and the recently introduced Skoda Superb.
