McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt has disclosed some juicy details about the company’s future plans.

Speaking to Car & Driver, Flewitt said the P1's hybrid technology will "soon" find its way in lesser models, estimating that at least half of the company's models by 2025 will be hybridized. He believes this is the only possible way to meet more stringent emissions regulations and that hybrid tech will boost drivability by increasing the total output.

However, it does add weight which is the main enemy of any performance-oriented car and it also jacks up the costs, but Flewitt promises McLaren will "conquer those challenges." He went on to specify the power race will continue along with a weight race which they believe McLaren is winning thanks to their carbon fiber know-how.

Lastly, McLaren Automotive’s CEO said a successor for the P1 will be out in roughly ten years from now and won't be just a "P1 and a bit" as Flewitt says it will "have to be another significant technology step."
