Ford has announced the 2017 GT supercar will have just about the same price tag as the Lamborghini Aventador which in the United States starts at $397,500.

The pricing details were released by Ford Performance director Dave Pericak this week during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show where the all-new GT made its European debut. The Blue Oval company wants to maintain the model exclusive which is why they have decided to limited annual production to just 250 units.

Developed since late 2013 in the night hours in a basement to keep it a secret, Ford's new GT was the big surprise of this year's NAIAS in Detroit where it arrived with a twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost mid-mounted engine that develops more than 600 bhp (447 kW). The supercar features carbon fiber body panels, aluminum front and rear subframes and other lightweight components which have allowed the model to "exhibit one of the best power-to-weigh ratios of any production car."

Ford has previously said the GT will enter production towards the end of 2016 and will be commercialized as a 2017MY.
