Chevrolet has released a teaser for the 2016 Malibu set to be introduced early April at the New York Auto Show.

Together with the teaser, Chevrolet has disclosed some preliminary details about the mid-size sedan which will ride on an entirely new platform bringing an almost four inch longer wheelbase so expect a significantly more spacious cabin, especially for rear passengers. This new platform will make extensive use of high-strength steel which will shave off around 300 lbs (136 kg).

As far as the styling is concerned, General Motor's Vice President of Global Design Ed Welburn has previously mentioned the 2016 Malibu will adopt a Corvette-inspired styling and we will be "blown away" by the car's appearance. We remind you GM's Executive Vice President of Global Product Development said it will have a "groundbreaking design" and judging by the attached teaser image it seems the new Malibu will indeed look substantially more appealing than the outgoing model.

Chevrolet says new details & teasers will be released each week until the Malibu's reveal early April in New York while sales are programmed to kick off towards the end of the year.
