Work continues on SEAT's crossover as our spies have caught an uncamouflaged mule undergoing testing in southern Europe.

Snapped wearing a Leon body, the mule has an increased ride height and relatively large alloy wheels.

That's not much to go on but previous reports have suggested the crossover will ride on the MQB platform and feature rugged styling cues including plastic body cladding and squared-off wheel arches.

Engines options remain unconfirmed but are expected to include an assortment of four-cylinder petrol and diesel units from the Leon. However, the biggest change should be the addition of an optional all-wheel drive system.

The production model is slated to be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show before going on sale in 2016.
