Porsche Motorsport head of GT cars Andreas Preuninger is providing a comprehensive product presentation of the Cayman GT4.

If you just can't get enough of the Cayman GT4, here's a video from EVO with Andreas Preuninger, the man in charge of GT cars at Porsche Motorsport who talks about the latest product developed by the same team responsible for the 911 GT3. Unlocking the full potential of the Cayman, this new €85,779 GT4 version is seen as a cheaper (yet still seriously quick) alternative to the mighty €137,303 911 GT3.

Ever since the original Cayman came out back in 2005, many asked Porsche to build a hardcore version like this one and now the Stuttgart-based automaker has responded to these requests, creating a Cayman which hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds and tops out at 295 km/h (183 mph). It's being billed as a proper track car which can lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 40 seconds.

Its heart and soul is a flat-six 3.8-liter engine developing 385 HP (283 kW) at 7,400 rpm and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) in the 4,750 - 6,000 rpm range. All that power is sent to the rear wheels exclusively through a 6-speed manual gearbox which helps the Cayman GT4 sprint from 80 to 120 km/h (50 to 75 mph) in fifth gear in 5.5 seconds while the 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) run takes 14.5 seconds.

Already available on order, Porsche will bring the Cayman GT4 to next month's Geneva Motor Show before kicking off deliveries late March.
