The Ford GT was one of the stars of the North American International Auto Show and the secrecy that surrounded the model played a big part in its unveiling.

According to Automotive News, Ford went to great lengths to keep the car a secret. This included selecting a small team of employees to work on the model in a basement storage room beginning in late 2013. The team worked mostly at night and couldn't tell their family or colleagues what they were working on.

As development progressed, they were required to bring car outside so they could see it from a distance and in natural light. This was especially risky, so it was done on weekends to minimize the chances that other people would see the car.

While rumors of the car eventually got out, pictures did not. This helped the GT to make a big splash at NAIAS.
