Our friend Marchettino has spotted what appears to be a test mule of the Ferrari FF undergoing intense testing at Fiorano.

The ForFour (FF) is almost four years old so naturally Ferrari is working on some upgrades which have probably been implemented in this test mule spotted on the company's Fiorano test track in Italy. Aside from the longer exhaust pipes, the car appeared to be stock but Marchettino says it sounded louder than the regular FF.

It's unlikely the FF facelift will be introduced anytime soon since Ferrari is currently putting the finishing touches on the refreshed 458 Italia (could be called 458M). A report from August last year indicated the FF will get a mid-cycle refresh in 2016 which will bring a 40 HP (30 kW) power hike to 700 HP (515 kW) and a revised four-wheel drive system. The seven-speed gearbox could also be replaced with an eight-speed version while other upgrades will include a carbon fiber roof, composite hang-on panels as well as built-in lightweight air deflection elements featuring small hydraulic actuators.

The Ferrari FF facelift could also gain an entry-level version equipped with a twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine sourced from the California T.
