BMW has released a new video which highlights the M535i.

While the name might not ring a bell, the model was introduced in 1980 to appeal to buyers who were looking for a sports sedan. As a result, the car was equipped with a sportier front fascia, a rear spoiler and 14-inch alloy wheels. The car was also outfitted with a sports steering wheel and Recaro seats.

A 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine resided under the hood and produced 218 PS (160 kW). This enabled the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

Those numbers might not sound too impressive by today's standards but the success of the M535i eventually leaded to the creation of the M5.
