The Ford Mustang EcoBoost promises to deliver an intoxicating blend of performance and fuel efficiency but it appears using regular fuel (87 octane) can throw a wrench into the situation.

According to training materials unearthed by Mustang6G, the Mustang EcoBoost only produces 275 bhp (205 kW) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque when running on regular unleaded. This is in stark contrast to the 310 bhp (231 kW) and 320 lb-ft (433 Nm) of torque that is produced when the model runs on premium unleaded (93 octane).

Of course, the Mustang isn't the only model effected by the type of petrol used but it's a nice remember of how big the performance changes can be.
