This model is still considered as one of the most special vehicles the German manufacturer has ever made. It was produced between winter of 1998 and summer of 1999 by AMG at the Affalterbach factory with only 25 examples built – five roadsters and 20 coupes. All of the 25 CLK GTRs were left hand drive, except for one which was specially built for Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei.
Power is provided by a 6.9-liter 12-cylinder engine with 621 HP (456 kW) and up to 731 Nm (539 lb-ft) of torque. The claimed 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration is in 3.8 seconds, while the top speed is rated at 320 km/h (199 mph).
With a price of 1,547,620 USD (1,273,446 EUR), the CLK GTR was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most expensive production car.
