A new rumor is indicating Lotus will launch a crossover version of the Evora in the following years.

CAR is reporting the Evora will morph into a soft crossover with a rear-wheel drive layout so don't expect any real off-roading capabilities for what will essentially be a raised Evora with a more rugged design. A launch date has not been specified but chances are it won't come out sooner than 2016 taking into account a facelifted Evora will be presented in March next year at the Geneva Motor Show.

Speaking of which, Lotus Cars boss Jean-Marc Gales says the overhauled Evora is going to be lighter and faster while on track it will be quicker than any other car priced at up to £100,000. Lotus is also analyzing the prospects of coming out with an Evora Roadster since that would be "the easiest thing in the world to do" and CAR is reporting a hardcore model is also in the works.
