Audi has announced the R8 LMS successor is "ready to race."

The company declined to release pictures but said they will be "subjecting the new GT3 sports car to tough testing in selected endurance races before customer deliveries begin at the end of 2015." The automaker went on to say the model will be entered in at least two 24 hour races at the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps.

That's not much to go on but a previous spy video showed the car will have an aggressive front bumper, a ventilated hood and a massive rear wing. The model also had aerodynamic mirrors, revised side skirts and a ventilated rear fascia with a prominent diffuser.

Besides announcing the R8 LMS successor, Audi confirmed they will be fielding two "further-developed" R18 e-tron quattros in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
